Ship I sailed on to the Gulf. Our job was to help keep the equipment secure to the decking. It was nerve racking to go between two D-9 bulldozers to tighten down the boom chains when the ship would roll to one side and you could clearly see the strain on the chains.

April 6, 1994 - Genocide in Rwanda starts as a Falcon 50 plane carrying President of Rwanda Habyarimana and Burundian President Cyprien Ntaryamira was shot down on its descent into Kigali, killing all on board.[They had been meeting to discuss ways of ending ethnic rivalries between the Hutu and Tutsi tribes. After their deaths, Rwanda exploded into violence , resulting in genocidal between the tribes. Hunderds of thousands were killed with over two million fleeing the country in terror.
